Environmental Policy

July 2021

The Coca‑Cola Company (TCCC) and its bottling partners understand the role our entire system plays to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment. This belief is part of our culture and is embedded in our purpose to refresh the world and make a difference.

Vision

Our vision is to craft the brands and choice of drinks that people love, to refresh them in body and spirit while doing this in a way that creates a more sustainable business and better shared future. We strive to achieve this ambition with the full commitment of system leaders and the active, global participation and engagement of our employees.

Guiding Principles

We will conduct our business in ways that will protect and preserve the environment while reducing our environmental footprint. This includes working with select suppliers and business partners that have a strong commitment to the running of sustainable operations and processes.

To drive toward this ambition, we will adhere to applicable legal and TCCC requirements relating to the environment everywhere we do business. In addition, our environmental efforts include the following key areas, and are defined by our long-term aspirational goals:

- Water Stewardship: The Coca‑Cola Company and its bottling partners work to:

- Increase water security where we operate, source ingredients and touch people’s lives;

- Be good stewards in the communities where we operate by continuing to improve the efficiency of water use in our operations, with a particular focus on high-stress locations;

- Help address shared water challenges to create more sustainable watersheds; and

- Support watersheds in which we operate, by fostering environmentally responsible operations through focusing on water efficiency, wastewater treatment and water stewardship principles.

- Climate Protection: Even as we grow our business, The Coca‑Cola Company and its bottling partners work to:

- Reduce carbon emissions across the supply chain in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the Science-Based absolute carbon emission reduction target;

- An aspiration of net zero carbon emissions by 2050; and

- Meet our Science-Based target through initiatives that include but are not limited to renewable energy, improved energy efficiency, waste reduction, equipment innovation and supplier engagement.

- Sustainable Packaging: We envision a world without waste where, through recycling and innovation, our packaging is seen as a valuable resource for future use, ideally as new packaging in a circular economy. In 2018, we launched the World Without Waste program, under which we work to:

- Drive recyclability and the collection of our packaging;

- Enhance the use of recycled content; and

- Bring together people and partners to support a healthy, debris-free environment.

- Sustainable Sourcing: The Coca‑Cola Company is dedicated to working toward more ethical and sustainable sourcing of its agricultural ingredients. The Principles for Sustainable Agriculture (PSA) are the next iteration from the Sustainable Agriculture Guiding Principles (SAGP) and describe the company’s first principles for sustainable agriculture based on environmental, social and economic criteria.

The progress of the above goals is reported annually through our Business & Environmental, Social and Governance Report, which reflects our continued journey toward driving sustainable business practices into our core strategy. More details can be found in the Sustainable Business section of our website.

Environmental Governance & Stewardship

The Coca‑Cola Operating Requirements (KORE) define the policies, standards and requirements for managing our environmental responsibilities across our operations. In addition to requiring compliance with applicable legal requirements, KORE also requires that our manufacturing and distribution facilities implement ISO 14001 (internationally recognized standard for environmental management) that ensures the provision of resources to achieve the organization’s environment objectives, together with the fostering of continual improvement in environment performance.

To guide us in working to achieve a sustainable environment, KORE also defines a rigorous set of operational controls to manage known risks. These controls generally align with top global requirements and consensus standards. They include the following, keeping in mind that the required scope and details of each element below should be consistent with the risks and circumstances of individual operations:

- Risk Assessment and Management

- Identify, evaluate, and address environmental risks and emerging trends.

- Use regular, periodic, and objective assessments to ensure compliance with the company and applicable legal requirements.

- Engaged, Capable Employees

Provide clearly defined roles and responsibilities, training, communication systems and participation opportunities to promote effective engagement from employees at all levels.

Promote a culture of environmental excellence through innovation, knowledge sharing platforms across the Coca‑Cola system and continuously evaluating and benchmarking our environmental performance.

- Objectives and Performance Tracking

- Establish and track the organization’s environmental performance goals and objectives.

- ESG Reporting

- Regularly report on our ESG priorities and progress through annual reporting such as our Business & Environmental, Governance and Social Report, including metrics assurance conducted by recognized, credible third-party certification organizations.

- Create awareness of ESG initiatives through communications channels.

- Stakeholder Engagement

- Collaborate (as appropriate) with public and private entities (including governments, non-governmental organizations, other businesses, and local communities) to advance environmental stewardship initiatives.
